Mitigating the risks of moving business data to the cloud

One hour of downtime can cost a business $100,000

“There are many reasons to migrate applications and workloads to the cloud,” writes Rick Braddy for Network World, “but moving data is never without risk”. Citing an ITIC survey, Braddy notes that one of the greatest risks is downtime—one hour of which can cost a corporation $100,000.

Most companies don’t have plans to deal with data loss from outages, breaches or errors. Braddy suggests making copies of crucial data, implementing a failover system and working only with providers who offer service-level agreements.
