Three powerful ways Office 365 supports business mobility

Microsoft has introduced Office 365 tools that make it easier than ever for your employees to work from any location and device.

Office 365 is an essential business productivity tool.

According to Microsoft, more than 50 percent of its commercial Office customers now use Office 365. And Microsoft predicts this number will increase to 66 percent by 2019.

The move to Office 365 isn’t surprising; companies are deploying cloud apps to improve employee productivity and gain a competitive edge. With Office 365, employees always have the latest versions of their productivity tools – whether they are working from a desktop or mobile device. Here are three ways that Office 365 supports business mobility:

1. Dial-in conferencing via mobile devices

Skype for Business now offers dial-in conferencing so that you can join calls from your laptop and other mobile devices.

Once you sign into a meeting, you have access to all of the features that you expect in web conferencing software. For example, you can share your screen, conduct polls, change presenters, mute callers, record your meetings and more. Skype for Business supports up to 250 attendees on one conference bridge.

With Skype’s call federation feature, you can also connect users in other organizations as though they are part of your internal team. This is useful if you regularly conference with consultants, partners or vendors.

In addition, IT teams can set up conference bridges for help desk calls. Once users log in, tech support can request remote access to their PC and troubleshoot problems.

2. OneNote has mobile apps

Microsoft One Note is now mobile. You can get a One Note app for employees’ iPhones, Androids or Windows Phone – making it easy for team members to collaborate when they are on the go.

For example, you can create a custom link to share your notebook with your team. One Note allows you to control access, so you can specify whether others can edit or view your notes.

One Note also syncs with Office 365, so you can access your business files and notes from your mobile devices.

3. Microsoft Teams simplifies mobile collaboration

Microsoft Teams had its first birthday in March. In the past year, 200,000 organizations in 181 markets have started using Teams.

The platform gives employees a single console where they can access all of their Microsoft applications via their desktops or mobile devices. For example, they can log into their internal social network through Teams. Then, they can join groups, chat, participate in a forum or collaborate with others. Employees can also use Outlook and Skype for Business via Teams.
